Your Ad Might Not Be the Problem. The Sale Might Be Stalling at a Different Door
A campaign stops converting. The common reaction is changing the creative, the audience, and the page all at once. If the result improves, nobody knows what actually fixed it. If it gets worse, nobody knows what broke. The whole funnel becomes a suspect because nobody isolated the actual door where people are stalling.
The five doors a purchase passes through
- Ad click
- Page view
- Add to cart
- Checkout started
- Purchase approved
Diagnosis starts by measuring the drop-off from one door to the next, not by staring at the final conversion number alone.
Lots of clicks, few page views
Check load time, mobile errors, redirects, and whether the ad’s promise matches what the landing page actually shows. The creative might be doing its job. The person just never reached the product.
Lots of views, almost no add-to-carts
The problem tends to sit in the offer itself: price, proof, clarity, photos, delivery time, trust signals, or a mismatch between what the ad promised and what the page delivers.
Items added, checkout never starts
Investigate what only shows up at that step: shipping cost, delivery time, a minimum order value, a coupon that doesn’t apply, or friction in moving forward. This is the moment intent meets the full cost of the purchase.
Checkout starts, payment doesn’t approve
The diagnosis shifts again: too many form fields, a forced account creation, a technical error, a missing local payment method, or a low approval rate. Changing the creative at this point would mean adjusting the first door to fix a problem at the fifth.

Logistics shows up inside this funnel too
An uncompetitive delivery time, unclear shipping information, or a lack of trust in tracking can stop a cart from moving forward. Conversion isn’t the ad’s responsibility alone.
Before concluding “my campaign doesn’t sell,” it’s worth finding out which door people are actually stalling at. The name of the problem changes the entire solution.
Diagnosing where the funnel actually leaks, instead of guessing, is easier with the operational side already handled. Flow Border is built to keep that part out of the equation.
